Wacker Neuson Introduces Rebar Cutters
April 1, 2008 by newsdesk
The new cutting machines by Wacker Neuson increase productivity and safety when cutting reinforcing steel. With its new reinforcing steel cutter product group, Wacker Neuson provides a safe and efficient alternative to conventional cutting and bending systems for reinforcing bars. The advantage of these electro-hydraulic systems is that the costs per cut are lower than with alternative cutting technologies. Additionally, the operator is protected against noise and flying sparks.
Compared with other cutting technologies such as angle grinders and flame cutters, the new reinforcing steel cutters are more efficient, quieter, and safer. Developed specifically for cutting and bending reinforcing steel, the machines quickly and safely cut through reinforcing steel by means of a special cutting head that cleanly and smoothly severs the steel rod. “The cutting process is made simple, and productivity is significantly higher in comparison with other cutting technologies. Thus, the costs per cut amount to only about a third of the costs incurred when cutting with an angle grinder,” explains Markus Martin, Product Manger for Concrete Technology at Wacker Neuson, when asked about the advantages of the new machines.
Not only do the reinforcing steel cutters ensure a quicker and more efficient cutting process, but operating them is also much safer and more convenient. According to Martin, “The machines improve the working conditions for the operator. The electro-hydraulic mechanism generates only very low noise levels, and there is no danger of injury through flying sparks.” Overall, the product program comprises eight different machine types, including the three types RCE-16, RCE- 20, and RCE-25 of the “Economy Line”. The “Premium” series consists of the five additional models RCP-12, RCP-16, RCP-20, RCP-25, and RCP-32, which offer further advantages.
Incorporating a patented exchangeable head system, the machine types RCP-20 and RCP-25 are especially versatile for both cutting and bending applications. The optional bending head can be mounted easily and quickly. In contrast to other cutting systems, the reinforcing steel cutters are therefore also the ideal tool for bending steel rods. In addition, the “Premium” Series offers different cutting head systems for a wide variety of applications. The narrow wedge cutting head used in types RCP-12 and RCP-16 facilitates work in hard-to-reach areas. The heavier shear cutting head of types RCP-20, RCP-25, and RCP-32 is especially suitable for steel bars of 20 mm or more in diameter. Both systems are equipped with handle positions that are specific to the various applications, thereby allowing the operator to hold them in an ergonomically favorable position. The pressure relief valve of the “Premium” machines can be operated without tools. This means that the mechanism can be removed quickly and easily if the cutting process is to be interrupted. As is the case with all Wacker Neuson products, the reinforcing steel cutters are robustly built and able to meet very high operational demands.
About the company:
Following the merger between Wacker Construction Equipment AG and Neuson Kramer Baumaschinen AG, a worldwide provider of light equipment and compact equipment emerged in 2007. This new provider has more than 30 subsidiaries and over 180 sales and service centers worldwide, and offers a unique range of products. All products of the new company will, in future, be marketed under the brand name of Wacker Neuson. Exceptions within Europe are the products of the brand Kramer-Allrad, and also the brand Weidemann, which will be retained and further expanded as an independent agricultural brand. With its range of services, the company’s products are geared to professional users in construction trades, in the gardening and landscaping business, agriculture, and also local authority districts and companies operating in the manufacturing industry and the recycling sector. Wacker Neuson offers these diverse categories of users more than 300 product groups, as well as comprehensive rental, replacement part, and repair services.
